Oh, the night we had last night. Our first night in Kaleden. I think in all my exhaustion I may have relaxed a little too soon. I grabbed a glass of pop, a box of cookies and turned the TV on to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet. Unfortunately, with my kids sleeping in the same room and my feet up in the hopes that I'll soon pass out, in walks the lady who lives upstairs; the lady who owns the house. Oh sweet, merciful, crap she's loud. She parks her butt down on the couch that is supposed to be in our private basement and starts talking really loudly. And I don't mean just "Keadys loud", I mean "steam-engine-train loud". At some point, I believe I feigned sleep to avoid talking with her, to make her be quieter, to make her leave. And with her carefully train-engineered feet, she stomped back upstairs to leave us in our dark room to adjust to our new and temporary environment.
Once we had managed to settle down and begin to unwind again, I fell asleep on the couch reading a book. Bram claimed to be wide awake, so when baby woke up, he was there to scoop him up. I quickly fed him and passed him back to Bram, as I struggled to keep my eyes awake. I have no idea how long I had been asleep for (I managed to fall off the couch and onto the air mattress on the ground and subconsciously covered myself up and begin the snoring process once again), but I woke to Bram saying that he was planning on taking baby for a drive to get him to sleep. It's funny; as I type this I realize why the gas gauge in the car was down. Duh...
With our backs broken from a horrible sleep consisting of couch exchanges and baby trades, we "awoke". Let the blood begin. Good morning Bram and your nose full of blood!
UGH.
Tonight, I'm going to bed with a prayer. I'm going to pray that my family gets a decent sleep and that we wake up with smiles on our faces and properly aligned backs. Until then, I pray we make it through the day without falling asleep or running into 'The Lady Upstairs'. For now, we're spending the day in Penticton so Bram can look for work and I can let the kids run around the beach. Okay, Keadys. Baby is still a baby.
